GEOFF MAY BREAKS ROEBLING TRACK RECORD ON NEW DUNLOP SLICKS
Geoff May rode his Dunlop shod 2016 Kawasaki ZX10 to a new track record during the WERA Open Superbike race at Roebling Road Raceway in Pooler GA during the March 20 races. Using the new Dunlop Soft KR448 front and soft KR451 rear slicks, May posted a 1:10.288 to best all previous Roebling Road Raceway marks.
Starting from the fifth row, May’s ZX10 hooked up on the start and dove into turn 1 in third place right off the start. Passing Frankie Babuska a couple laps later he then broke the track record on lap 4 with a blistering 1:10.288 time.
Cool weather made for less than perfect conditions, but May’s bike and tires overcame the 65-degree temperatures and slightly overcast conditions.
“My bike worked great and the tires were flawless. The new 2662 Soft front is unreal in cold conditions. I really liked it,” said May after the race. “That is the best motorcycle I have ever ridden, and the tires are a perfect match.”
May entered the Roebling races fresh off a podium finish at the Daytona 200.
