For the 2011 racing season Garrett will be riding a Monster Energy – Graves Motorsports – Yamaha YZF-R6 and competing in the WERA National Challenge series.
The 2010 season for Garrett Gerloff was by far his best season to date. With 2010 being his first year on a 600, he rode the bike exceptionally well and was a front runner right from the beginning. Starting the season with a 2nd place finish on his first race weekend with the 600, to winning the 600 Superbike Expert WERA National Championship along with some regional WERA 600 expert championship races. In between racing in several national championships, Garrett also found time to win the Youth Rider of the Year Award presented by the AMA Road Race Grand Championship and an AMA RRGC 600 Supersport Expert championship. 2010 was also the first year for the USGPRU MD250H Challenge race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in conjunction with the 11th round of the MotoGP World Championship. Garrett came into the races with only one weekend on the bike and won both races by over 10 seconds showing that he is able to learn a track quickly and handle the pressure of a large race weekend.
2009 saw Garrett start off the season strong with a double win at Jennings GP, which was his first win at a USGPRU race weekend. All year Garrett rode both his Moriwaki MD250H’s on the edge and was on the podium at every race weekend. At the end of the year Garrett had wrapped up 3 USGPRU National Championships and missed out on the 4th by 1 point. He also won 2 WERA National Championships. With an awesome season behind him, Brain Stokes, a long time AMA racer and Horizon Award winner, stepped up to the plate and offered to be Garrett’s crew chief for the 2010 season.
Garrett was raised on a motorcycle. From the time he was four years old, he was racing around all of the motocross tracks of south Texas, following the footsteps of his dad, a White Brothers World Vet Motocross Champion. Moving up from a Yamaha PW50 to the 85 by the time he was ten years old. After seeing an AMA Pro Road Race at Barber Motorsports Park, Garrett knew where his future would be. He received his first road race motorcycle in 2007 and never looked back. 2008 was his first year on the 125cc GP bike, and with so much competition, learned critical race skills from other opponents. This excelled him faster in the sport than he could have imagined and set him up to be a strong competitor for the 2009 racing season.
