Dustin Dominguez, photo by Amanda Morgan.

Dustin Dominguez set a new track record with a 1:14.317 lap time in winning the Formula 1 Expert race during CMRA’s stop at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit (Hallett, Oklahoma) on Sunday, September 24. Dominguez’s record-setting ride capping a tremendous weekend of riding for Dunlop racers, with nine first place finishes among a parade of podium appearances.

During the Formula 1 race Dominguez actually posted the TWO fastest lap times in track history. On Lap 3 of the Formula 1 race, Dominguez posted the 1:14.317 time and backed that up with a 1:14.368 on Lap 4 of the race. The old track record was 1:14.371.

Earlier in the weekend, fellow Dunlop rider Conner Blevins, who placed second to Dominguez in the Formula 1 race, earned three first place finishes of his own, in the Superstock C, Superbike B, and Superbike C classes. Blevins win in the Superstock C race paced a sweep for Dunlop, as Hayden Schultz and Alan Phillips joined him on the podium.

Team MotoBros (Cory Burleson, Isaiah Burleson and Craig Thomson) also won the Overall Endurance and Ultra-LW GP class on their Yamaha R3. Team Tip Toes & Tonka Trucks rode the new Dunlop Sportmax Q3+ in the 110/150 sizing combination to a first place finish in the 6hr Lightweight Superstock E class.

RACE TIRE SERVICE NOW CARRIES DP RACING PADS

RTS will now carry the racing line of DP PADS on our eCommerce site and on selected trackside trucks.

DP gets is roots as far back as World War II  when Dunlop Aviation in England began pioneering disk brake technology.  Dunlop Aviation again took the initiative, introducing sintered metal disc brake pads in 1955.   Dunlop Aviation was later commissioned by the British Government to incorporate sintered disc brake technology for motorcycle applications. Thus was born DP BRAKES.

DP BRAKES position in the motorcycle market is unique because it is the only manufacturer that concentrates 100 percent of its production on sintered metal pads.

Additionally, he posted the fasted lap of the weekend with a 1:14.940, the only rider to go under 1:15.

But Blevins showed more impressive racing skills in the SuperBike and SuperStock races, starting from the last row in all three.

Burleson won the Overall Solo 30 and the Middleweight races. Dunlop tires also claimed the top podium position in the Formula 2 Endurance with Team Torquasaurus. Individually Orchard (Formula 40 Middleweight), Nick Doolan (SuperStock A), Marcelo Fartura (Formula 40 Heavyweight novice), Shandra Crawford (Formula 1 Ladies) all picked up one victory each, giving Dunlop riders 10 individual wins on the weekend.

Dunlop Wins its 29th Daytona 200

Buffalo, NY: When Kenny Roberts won the 1983 Daytona 200 on Dunlop tires, it marked the beginning of a long Dunlop dynasty at the fabled Florida tri-oval. Since then, Dunlop has won the prestigious event 29 times, including the 2017 race with three-time winner Danny Eslick.

For this year’s event, it was an open tire rule, meaning riders were allowed to run any brand of tire then wanted. In addition to Eslick on the TOBC Racing Yamaha 600, six of the top ten finishers chose to run on Dunlop slick tires made specifically for Daytona at Dunlop’s Buffalo, NY manufacturing facility.

In addition to Eslick’s dramatic win on the last lap, a long-standing lap record was broken. Valentin Debise on the M4 The 22 Project ECSTAR Suzuki 600 set a new unofficial track record for a 600 on the long course on lap 12 of the race with a 1:48.903, eclipsing Jason Disalvo’s 1:49.60 lap record set in 2012.

Dunlop would like to congratulate all the Daytona 200 competitors on a great race.
